Bentley Warren was born on December 10, 1940, in Kennebunkport, Maine. He grew up in a working-class family and developed an interest in building and racing cars from a young age. He attended West Peabody High School, where he excelled in sports. He then started an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery, and obtained a building certificate in 1980.

Bentley Warren started his racing career in 1957, when he won his first race at West Peabody Speedway in Massachusetts. He then raced in various tracks and categories, such as midgets, sprint cars, Silver Crown cars, and Indy cars. He won races and championships at 34 tracks in the United States and Canada, including the International Classic at Oswego Speedway six times, the Little 500 twice, the Copper World Classic, the Star Classic, the Thompson World Series, and an east–west showdown between the best of the supermodified drivers. He also raced in the Indianapolis 500 in 1971 and 1975, finishing 23rd both times.
Bentley Warren retired from racing in 2007, but continued to drive on occasion in the ISMA supermodified series and recorded a win in 2006. He also worked with actor Paul Newman in a midget car and supermodified at Star Speedway in New Hampshire. He wrote his autobiography, Wicked Fast: Racing Through Life with Bentley Warren, in 2014, and shared his stories and insights from his racing career.
Bentley Warren also started his own trucking company, Bentley Warren Trucking, in the 1970s, and his own racing team, Bay States Racing, in the 1980s.
